Two lanes of the M5 southbound at Gloucester, which were shut after a car turned onto its roof, have reopened, police have said.
Emergency services were called to the collision between junctions 11A and 12 at about 08:50 BST.
Police have not revealed details of any victims.
The carriageway was completely closed for most of the morning causing queues of more than eight miles (12.8km) to build up.
