Dionne Warwick has compared the death of lyricist Hal David was to losing "another family member".

India demand to scrap coal sale

India is one of the largest producers of coal in the world
India's main opposition party has set out conditions to break the deadlock in the ongoing session of the parliament over the controversial sale of coalfields by the government.
The BJP said the government should cancel the sale and order an independent probe into the matter.
It has been insisting that PM Manmohan Singh should resign over a recent report that the country lost $ 33bn (£20bn) by selling coalfields cheaply.
Mr Singh denies the charges.

The One in a Million Free School lost funding after it failed to attract enough pupils.

Nigeria's First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has been in a hospital in Germany in the last four days, Abuja State House sources have told SaharaReporters, undergoing treatment for food poisoning.
The sources say Mrs. Jonathan, who is also a Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State civil service, was airlifted to the hospital by an air ambulance in midweek under emergency medical conditions.
Presidency sources stated that the emergency airlift departed for Wisbanden, Germany, but it is not clear if her treatment was being undertaken in that city. They said she was only able to speak earlier

We’ve come so far…for the past 40 years, graduates of St. Martinville Louisiana Senior High School (Class of 1973) have held separate, segregated reunions. Some azzhole still “slipped up” and included a “White’s Only” after party on the invitation though.
The Class of 1973 decided that after nearly 40 years, they would stop holding segregated class reunions, but a letter announcing the change included an after party for “white graduates only.”

A controversial plan to sell media rights to the world's biggest religious festival in India has been put on hold, after opposition from Hindu leaders.
However, government officials say their proposal for the Kumbh Mela festival has not been formally dropped either.

Police are searching a river for the parents of a 13-year-old girl who was found alone on a boat in the Norfolk Broads.
The hired craft was found tied to a tree near Salhouse Little Broad on Saturday evening.
Officers have closed a mile-long section of the River Bure between Salhouse and Wroxham broads as they search the area.
The girl was found unharmed and spent the evening in protective custody.

Events have been taking place in Belfast to celebrate 40 years since Dame Mary Peters won her gold medal in the 1972 Olympic Games.
In a surprise ceremony at Belfast City Airport, Flybe have unveiled an aircraft named after the 73-year-old.
Well-known Olympic medallists are also due to attend a celebratory evening at Belfast Grand Opera House later.

Most officers can retire after 30 years' service on two-thirds of their final salary
Police forces in Wales have spent millions of pounds rehiring hundreds of retired officers or staff in the last financial year, BBC Wales has learnt.
Dyfed-Powys Police rehired 63 retired officers or staff at a cost of £1.4m, while North Wales Police rehired 27 spending £672,000, and the Gwent Force rehired 11 at a cost of £329,000.
South Wales Police rehired 226 retired officers but did not reveal the cost.

President Jose Eduardo dos Santos is now set to win another term in office
Angola's ruling MPLA party has taken a commanding lead in national elections, with almost 75% of the vote, partial results suggest.
With nearly 70% of votes counted from Friday's poll, the main opposition Unita party garnered about 18%, the electoral commission said.
If confirmed, the results mean another term for President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, 70, who has ruled since 1979.
The polls were the second vote since the civil war ended a decade ago.

Avoid festival warning to drivers

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area around the Jersey Live venue in Trinity over the weekend.
Up to 10,000 people will be making their way to the music festival and the parish authorities have set up diversions and a one-way system.
The annual festival at the Royal Jersey Showground attracts fans from the island and overseas.
Saturday's main attractions are dance music stars Chase and Status and the funk of the Janice Graham Band.
