At least 13 Taliban militants have been killed in Nato air strikes in the east Afghan province of Kunar, which lies on the border with Pakistan.
Local officials reported the death of 46 suspected Taliban members while the insurgents themselves confirmed 13 had been killed and 10 wounded.
Kunar border areas have come under heavy shelling from the Pakistani side in recent months.
Afghanistan and Pakistan accuse each other of failing to stop infiltrators.
The air strikes occurred in the Chapa Dara district of Kunar.
