The race is on to see who will be running against President Barack Obama in the US presidential election in November 2012.
The state-by-state primary and caucus contests that will determine the Republican presidential nominee begin in January. The dates below show only Republican primaries and caucuses, as Mr Obama faces no challenge for the Democratic nomination.
