The boy is said to have fallen 30ft down the gorge.
An 11-year-old boy has fallen down a cliff at Cheddar Gorge in Somerset.
The boy, who has not been named, plunged about 40ft (12m) and was discovered injured but conscious and breathing by climbers.
The boy had been with his mother, who had to be guided down the gorge after the incident at about 15:30 BST.
Police are trying to find out how the youngster who was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol for treatment, came to fall.
